As this will be our last prayer letter before Christmas, and the final one from the CPA office, I wanted to thank each one of you for your prayer support, which is, and has been essential to our work.

As well as blessing our partners and friends in Africa, we are so grateful for those of you who have never set foot on African soil but have joined with us in our work of transformation alongside those who live there.

Our first prayer letter in March 2020 was a response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the devastating and disruptive effects upon our friends in Africa. More recently we have been able to think and pray for those moving on from the pandemic into a life of education, further education, vocational work and community-based savings schemes and empowerment groups.

We have a lot to thank God for!  He is faithful and good. We feel blessed to be part of His plan of restoration for all creation.

As we look forward to the future, let’s continue to pray for those partners and friends on our projects. We will still be working with them for the next 5 years, even though the office will be closed.

  • We give thanks for Julius in Kampala and will continue to lift him before God in prayer as he watches over the Komamboga children and heads up the Family Empowerment project in Kampala.
  • We are so grateful to Father God for Esther, Nelson, Adeera, and Naome in North Kigezi and will continue to pray that they may have strength and courage to help build capacity amongst the communities where they are currently working. We also pray for the children at St Paul’s school that they will be successful in their learning.
  • Ethiopia is never far from our minds; we continue to pray for breakthroughs in peace amongst the warring factions. We will continue to ask for God’s Kingdom to come and his will to be done.
  • We pray for Beletew in Ethiopia as he strives to see the communities in Rasa Goba survive and recover from war and famine
  • We pray for the Afar girls as they continue their studies and ask that they will be part of a new wave of women in Ethiopia who bring change over the coming years.

(For those of you who have been praying for the Afar girls we have had news that seven have graduated this year despite the difficulties in Ethiopia. Such wonderful news!)

Let’s join together in this prayer, which was written and often used on our visits to St Paul’s School but has values and requests which can be applied across the continent. Feel free to replace Uganda with a country God lays on your heart, or replace St Paul’s with a community that you are aware of that might appreciate some prayer.

Lord bless Africa,

Lord bless Uganda,

Lord bless St Paul’s School.

Bless the St Paul’s family,

Bless our school and all who come here,

Protect us and keep us healthy,

Fill us with your Spirit,

And bless us.

Bless every teacher and pupil at St Paul’s,

May they remember their creator,

Fear Him and revere Him,

That He may bless them,

Help us to be a blessing to others,

And to work hard in all that we do.

Help us to remember your love and kindness to us,

And to serve you with all of our lives.

Bless our land and all who work on it,

In your mercy, banish all disease, war and famine,

We ask that our crops will grow and be fruitful,

And we thank you for Your goodness to us.

Lord bless Africa,

Lord bless Uganda,

Lord bless St Paul’s and help us to be a beacon of truth and life in our land.

Amen

Holy Lord, everything we need is found in you!

For those of us who come here feeling broken, bring restoration.

For those of us who come here feeling weak, bring strength.

For those who come here weeping, bring joy.

For those of us who come here with doubts, bring faith.

For those who come here feeling shame, bring freedom.

For those of us who come here feeling burdened, bring rest.

For those of us who come here feeling anxious, bring peace.

Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen

Again, thank you for supporting the people of Africa and the work of CPA through your prayers. May the work of CPA bear eternal fruit, and may you be blessed too.

We wish you and your friends and family a peaceful Christmas in the knowledge that our Saviour was born.

We may occasionally post prayer updates on our website. If you would be interested in receiving a notification when we do this, please send your e-mail address to office@cpafrica.org.uk, entitled PRAYER.

God bless you.
