CPA Praying Together – February 2021

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lam. 3:22-23

Please join us and feel free to pass on to friends.

We give thanks to God for some great news from an African partner who we worked with for several years. Although we currently don’t have an active programme running with them anymore, we celebrate the answer of collaborative prayer from around 2010. For years they struggled to get clean water, but now the community, in a remote part of West Africa, has a borehole and source of clean water – and as they say in Pulaar, ‘It is sweet, and there is plenty of it!’ Let’s pray God’s blessing on them.

Uganda:

We heard from our friend and partner Julius that the election went relatively peacefully.  As in any election there will be those left disappointed. Let us pray for peace and reconciliation amongst the people and communities where the vote was divided.

Reported Covid-19 rates have not been going up significantly recently, but there are still 25,030 active cases. Please pray that those affected will recover and that a new strain will not begin to take hold.

Please pray particularly for schools and their staff as the Government plan to reopen schools for all year groups. Let’s pray for wisdom and courage as they promote the return of all students.

Pray also for the social workers and diocesan staff that we partner with in the Rukungiri area. We recently received good news about the activities they have undertaken, and how they have been able to reach out to some of the poorest widows and families in the area. Pray for them and their families as they go about their work. They also have some logistical issues involving transportation and the internet that need resolving so let’s pray with them for some solutions.

Ethiopia:

A humanitarian situation continues to unfold in the northern region of Tigray which needs our prayers.  With over 25,000 people now displaced and stories of atrocities being carried out, we need to pray that peace will prevail, for war to cease and stability to return. Pray that the leaders would see the importance of their decisions at this time.

Mozambique:

Mozambique is very much on our radar at the moment as yet another cyclone has caused widespread flooding in areas only just recovering from a previous cyclone. Please pray for a people who are weary from just surviving one natural disaster, let alone another.

Also, lift those who are doing all they can to help. Some friends of CPA at Charis Ministries are involved in helping. Please pray for them and their team on the ground as they do as much as they are able to do.

Finally, please pray for those in the north of Mozambique affected by an insurgence of terrorists who are destroying families and communities by spreading fear and violence. We pray this would stop and peace and good governance would prevail.

Join with us as we pray:

Lord Jesus, shine your light in us, through us and over us.

May we make a difference in this world, for your glory and purposes.

Set your way before us throughout 2021. May we reflect your peace and hope to a world that so desperately needs your presence and healing.

To you be glory and honour forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Thanks for praying with us
